Nicolas Hoffmann was born in Nantes in 1974. He came to prominence in the early 90s with his photography of the performing arts. His photographic practice soon moved towards a documentary approach. The question of how to present images to create a narrative led him to create book layouts and a more narrative graphic practice.

At the age of 25, he became art director of Beaux Arts magazine, where he created several collection principles, winning the art book prize in 2004. This collaboration with one of France’s most important art magazines consolidated his expertise in the field of the Press and immersed him in the heart of the international contemporary art scene, collaborating with all the professionals in this sector.

In 2005, Nicolas founded the Designers Anonymes studio, specializing in visual identity, and continued to collaborate in the cultural sphere. He has designed for many prestigious institutions, including the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle, Centre Pompidou, Musée du Louvre-Lens, Paris Musées, Opéra Comique, as well as the Entreprise Ricard and Carmignac foundations.

His artistic practice has constantly shifted from photography to graphic design, from portraitureto still life, as commissions have come and gone. With experience, his work will evolve from a lyrical dimension to a more pragmatic approach.This mobility in practice led him to work from the outset with a medium format, moving from the studio to international museums and wastelands, from analog to digital, always in tune with the times and above all according to his desires.
